West Albany High School 2nd 309

Freshman Brock Nelson, playing in his second varsity match, fired an even-par 72 at Mallard Creek Golf Course to lead West Albany to a comfortable second-place finish.
“Brock has been patient waiting his turn to get into the varsity lineup, and he has not disappointed since getting his chance,” West Albany Head Coach Matt Boase said.
“Shooting even par as a freshman is very impressive and doesn’t happen in tournaments often.”
Not to be left behind, teammates Trenton Crow and Grant Moen shot matching 80s for their best scores this season.
Andrew Liles was strong as well, turning in a 77 to get the Bulldogs to 309.
“I’m really proud of these guys,” Boase said. “Mallard Creek is a tough course and they ate it up. Having four underclassmen combine for a score below 310 means they played well today and that we have some great scores in our future.”
Crescent Valley won the tournament with a team score of 283.
